The Monsoon Made Me a Liar

The other day Hayden wanted to go swimming. I told him that after his nap we would go swimming. It was a typical July afternoon in Phoenix. Scorching hot sun, no clouds, no wind ect. So, Hayden took a great nap and when he woke up he said "Yay, Hayden took nap, now go swimming!!" We started getting ready and out of no where the storm hit. You'd think that after 6 years living here, I would know better than to make a promise for an outdoor activity during monsoon season.
He was pretty sad, but being the little angel that he is, he understood that we could not go swimming in the rain.
This was after about 20 minutes of rain. The monsoons are crazy. They literally come out of no where. Hey Krachel, remember when you came to visit? I just looked through all my old pictures trying to find the one of us with plastic bags on our heads while playing in the rain. I couldn't find it. Anyway, so what do you do on a raining day?
I found Hayden in my bathroom fixing his hair. Court never puts the gel away and this isn't the first time this has happened.
Should I continue fixing his hair or let him take over?
Moving on to the next activity.......
JUMPING OFF THE FURNITURE!!!!!
This is an activity that mom usually puts an end to pretty quick, but he was so dang cute and I was having a blast taking pictures and laughing. You can see his face in a few of them. He had the best time. Who needs the pool?
Then he decided to change the batteries in the remote.........
Clean the toilet.............
Try to wrestle daddy.............
Play a little tennis...........
with Daddy.......Daddy won.
By this point he was pretty worn out so we got ready for bed. Our routine is, pj's, teeth, prayers, books, songs, lights out. This time he wanted to read to his "friends"
I swear to you, I did not set up this pose. He put them just like that, snuggled up to them and read them 3 books. We always do 3 books. He even got some of the words right! It was a good afternoon. I was a bit worried when the storm hit, but Hayden made the best of it. I'm glad he didn't hold me to my promise. I need to be more careful!

What a sweet boy. I am excited to see him soon. BTW, that is a cute new chair. I have never seen it before.

What a day you both had! (and that was only the afternoon, huh?) What a fun idea to follow him around like that! Can you believe how much fun he had?

Yes. I completely remember the storm. That was the best rain storm I have ever seen. in my life. ever. But I'm glad it doesn't rain like that here. My hair would die.
